Text Box: Sunday 20th May was the day when Carnival Friends joined together to put their foot forward to raise over £1500 for the charities of their choice. There was much concern as the annual fund raising walk held by the National Carnival Guild since 1965, had been postponed, with no further information being made available. Since there was a large amount of sponsorship money already promised, associations were very concerned that this would be lost. So those genuine carnival people joined together and with donations given, put on a very successful walk, in the true carnival atmosphere. Over 180 miles was walked in total, in the sunshine, and concluded with an excellent buffet provided by Cherie Sargeant of Stanford & Corringham, after which certificates were presented. The whole aim of Carnival is to raise charitable funds and this was proved at this event, and a large number of charities will benefit from these efforts.
